With a Little Help From My Friends

I have a wonderful little group of friends that get together now and then for a day of art. This day we were headed to a local exhibit. After filling ourselves with inspiration we headed back to my place to spend an artful few hours creating something awesome. They eventually decided to to help me with a swap I was working on for the "In This House and Garden" art group I belong to on Yahoo.

The project was titled "Meet the Artist". It is an ATC with an original unaltered photo of your face. Body is up to the individual. Since my life right now is all about trying to be super nana and whatever art I can sneak in, that's what I went for.

My friend Karen always comes up with something wonderful to make with my little Kate. They are totally kindred spirits.

Making 20 ATC's takes a lot of cutting of many little pieces. Having great friends to help made it a lot of fun.

I have to thank Miss Connie Freedman for this fabulous idea. I was very uncomfortable putting my face with my artwork but I worked through it and I must say that I really like "Nanalicious".

Creative Sunday

My friend Amisha from "Gorgeous and Fun Things"  has asked us to share about what size artwork that we prefer to work with. I love to work on small projects. I feel more comfortable working on small pieces. I am also drawn to collecting small works of art. Right now I am finishing up an ATC for a swap with an online art group. I will share it next week when it is completely done. For now I will share the card I made to go with the baby gifts for my new granddaughter.

For Cora With Love, Nana

We have a new grandchild on the way. Our little Cora is due the middle of March and we are very excited.  My artwork has been set aside to make time for all things baby.

I made this Moses basket a couple of years ago after, what I thought would be my last, grandchild was born. I figured that it was safe to finally make one for myself. Now I am passing it on to our new little love. It will be filled with all kinds of baby goodies.

The quilt is made up of new and vintage chenilles some from as far away as Australia. I love making baby quilts from chenille. Babies love all the different textures. Of course by the time it was is finished there was a blizzard of tiny chenille fragments everywhere.

This was a pattern I had never tried before. Very simple but if you lose count you could end up with a big mess. The photo doesn't do it justice. The yarn has tiny little sparkles running through it. Every girl needs a little bling no matter how new she is.

My friend Nancy introduced me to this adorable crochet pattern. It is so simple but looks so complicated. Very delicate and so sweet, perfect for our newest sweetheart. Everything will now be wrapped and put in the basket along with all the million outfits and baby must haves that I have been picking up for the last few months. Can't wait to meet our sweet baby Cora.
